Mark Gelfo with TLC Engineering for Architecture did a preliminary review of what LEED strategies the Sustainability Resource Center may be able to achieve.  Here’s what he discovered:

Sustainable Sites

  •   Development Density & Community Connectivity
  •   Alternative Transportation

Water Efficiency

  •   Low Flow Fixtures – 45% Reduction (RP)

Energy & Atmosphere

  •   OEP- Lighting Power Density Reduction
  •   OEP – Lighting & Daylighting Controls
  •   OEP – HVAC Controls & Zoning (RP)
  •   OEP – Energy Efficiency Equipment Appliances
  •   Commissioning
  •   Measurement & Verification
  •   Green Power

Materials & Resources

  •   Construction Waste Management (RP)
  •   Recycled Content
  •   Regional Materials  (RP)
  •   Rapidly Renewable Materials, Certified Wood ?

Indoor Environmental Quality

  •   Outdoor Air / CO2 Monitoring
  •   Construction IAQ
  •   Low VOC Materials
  •   Source Control
  •   Controllability of Systems
  •   Thermal Comfort

Innovation in Design

  •   Exemplary Performance – Recycled Content, Regional Materials, Water Use
  •   Low Mercury Lamps
  •   Sustainable Education
Since the project is still very much in the conceptual phase, these are subject to change.  And, as we increase our group of supporters and draw closer to the green building design charrette, we will be soliciting the community for ideas and recommendations on how we can make this an innovative, out-of-the-box, green building.
Our goal is LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors.  Think we’re going to do it?  Here’s a snapshot of the LEED Checklist as it stands:
The project is currently tracking 85 points, but as you can imagine, much is subject to change at this early stage.  What do you think?
